Scholar Ministries
Ron and Rebecca Smith have been in ministry together for decades, from their involvement in the Berryville First Assembly of God to their passionate teaching ministry in Scholar Ministries. They have been involved in the leadership areas of Worship Team, Children’s Choir, Royal Rangers, Youth Ministry, Tech Ministry and Adult Bible Study.
Their relational ministry has influenced many families as they teach scholars of all ages from all walks of faith…Jewish, Messianic, and Christian. When Yeshua/Jesus called them to move to Northwest Arkansas, they struggled with leaving their hometown and, even more difficult still, their home church. However, when they chose to follow the design of their Abba, their Father, they began to feel God’s Shalom (peace) in the midst of each battle that eventually birthed Scholar Ministries. Now the organization is thriving in both committed persons and passionate services providing instruction in Hebrew language and culture as well as acting as a resource for pastors.
Ron Smith
Ron Smith is an accomplished scholar, a “rabbi” with a little “r” at his own request, and a quiet spoken man who speaks with authority and integrity. He studied at Messianic Bible Institute and is a ranking member of the Whos Who in College Students with a 4.0 while holding down multiple jobs in order to support his family. Ron is also the President and co-founder of Scholar Ministries, a teaching and research support ministry with an international scope of influence.
RabbiRon is much respected for his knowledge of scripture, Jewish history, culture, and language. His passion for Israel began with a simple job. He worked as a tour guide in the life-size replica of the Tabernacle of Moses located on the grounds of the Elna M. Smith Foundation.
Many years of teaching the relational nature of the tabernacle, and its reflection of what worship truly should be, birthed in Ron a passion for the nation that followed it through the desert. He now acts as a resource for pastors and lay people alike and provides answers to some of the toughest questions based on a comprehensive grasp of scripture and the ability to translate directly from the Hebrew texts, both cannon and apocrypha.
Ms Rebecca
Ms Rebecca is the co-pastor of Scholar Ministries and just to prove she’s smarter than she looks…she has studied leadership and worship principles for over 30 years, followed and trained under incredible leaders for decades, began intensive training in worship photography in 2015, holds a degree in Landscape Architecture, is operating a mostly successful design firm birthed in 1992, and has been married to a walking, talking encyclopedia of biblical proportions for over 36 very talkative years, Ron Smith.
Rebecca Smith’s claim to notoriety lies in her radical commitment to Torah over Tradition and to leading by relationship FIRST. This usually results in unorthodox methods of involving others in active ministry. Ms Rebecca’s devotion to transparency and inspiration requires open access to nerd humor and brainiac discussions over LOTR, Darwinism, worm holes, and the multi-dimensionality of the God who loves us.
